Teacher Blogs: Ditch That Textbook
Let's face it, class can get pretty mundane sometimes. Such is life. The good news is, it doesn’t have to! As teachers, the classroom is ours to direct. There is no one formula to achieving a desired outcome, and as such there are many ways to get the job done.
This week I explored Ditch That Textbook, an Ed Tech/teaching blog written by a fellow educator named Matt Miller. Matt Miller is a Google-Certified Innovator, hired by Google to design "creative solutions to the world's toughest challenges in education", a seasoned teacher, and trained journalist. He has also released a book under the same title.
What I truly appreciate about Matt's approach is that he never ceases to offer up new fresh ideas about how to enliven any classroom setting, and integrates technology as a means of keeping studies relevant. Check out this post about innovation in education!
On his Screencasts page, Matt weekly explores a new program or website which can be of benefit to teachers on various tech resources through his Tech Tuesday segments.
In short, Matt Miller is AWESOME and his site is AWESOME. Ditch the textbook!
