Artifact 1
In forming this arrangement of "Clair de Lune" (Debussy) for voice, percussion, and a small wind ensemble, I had to consider the qualities of each instrument, their ranges, and their blend. This process of writing for an ensemble developed my ability as a musician by introducing me to facets of the ensemble and music-making which I had formerly never approached in a way beyond as a collaborator or consumer. |

Orff's Carmina Burana features complex melodies, rhythms, harmonic structures as well as latin text. To prepare the ensemble for challenges that would arise, it was necessary for me to really spend time analyzing the piece in order to develop effective rehearsal strategies. |
